This interface connects easily any NMEA output from a GPS, chart plotter, AIS receiver or any other navigation equipment to a computer, while respecting the technical requirements:
- only two wires to connect
- optical isolation of the computer:
The NMEA 183 standard states that any input has to be isolated from the source. This interface complies to this requirement (no isolation faults, ground loops or intermittent short circuits ==> no risk to destroy the computer input circuits, no electrolysis due to a isolation fault).
- two indicator lights to ensure correct connection:
- Red: power supplied by the computer
- Yellow: blinks on every data received

Documentation
Compatible operating systems
- Windows Vista, Vista x64, XP, XP x64, Windows 2000, ... (driver included)
- Mac OS X (driver included)
- Linux (> 2.4.20, pre-installed on most distributions)
Connections
It is possible to connect more than one NMEA receiver/input in parallel (example: NMEA output of a GPS connected to a VHF radio, a card reader and a computer). Never connect two NMEA talkers (outputs) in parallel, use separated input interfaces.
