This patented cam cleat, having a motorised release
mechanism, can free a sheet on an electrical command. It is composed
of a moving base plate with a standard cam cleat mounted on top of
it. You can still haul and ease the normal manual way. Alternatively,
the electrical command abruptly releases the base plate, which tilts
over so that the sheet slips out of the cam cleat.
As a command unit, you can use emergency stop type
push buttons or a remote control. To get a fully automated security
system, combine the ActiveCleat with a tilt angle measuring unit.
Some navigation electronic systems have that feature. The easiest way
is to use an autonomous tilt angle trigger unit.
Having experience from work on automotive security
systems (airbags etc. ), the ActiveCleat designers integrated
advanced self testing:
instantaneous detection of a cut command cable
mechanical test every 15 min (movement of
the motor to the opposite site, verification by a optical sensor)
Our opinion
Higher security for sailors and the material
justifies the cost of the equipment.
